Taking Shots

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Elli Fisher has never thought she was good enough. Let it be her job, her weight, her love life, nothing, she was convinced she couldn’t do anything right. She had walked through life for the past six years in a daze, never thinking that life could be good again after the abuse she endured from her ex boyfriend. She is lonely, sad, and depressed, that is until she meets Shea Adler. After doing a promotional shoot for the NHL team, the Nashville Assassins, she meets the hunky hockey player who shoots a puck, shattering her world.
Shea Adler was tired of the life he was living outside of the rink. The girls, the money blowing, the drinking, everything had to stop and it all did when he met Eleanor Fisher. He had never met anyone like her. She is feisty, witty, shy, and simply gorgeous. When he laid eyes on her, it was as if he was taking the hardest hit of his life into the boards, and he had to have her.
Elli is a little skeptical of Shea, but he knows that they were meant to be together, and he needed her in his life. But Elli just doesn’t understand what Shea could see in her. She is overweight, loud, and not even that pretty, so why would someone so gorgeous and so amazing want to be with her? It seemed that no matter how hard she tried to shake Shea off, he wasn’t going anywhere, and for the first time Elli didn’t feel alone.
But could Elli throw her insecurities out the window and love Shea with everything inside of her? Or will she let a past relationship, and her family ruin any chance of her being happy?

Would Elli miss her shot at love?

Series: The Assassins Series, book 1
Author: Toni Aleo
Pages: 480
Reading time: 7.5 hours

This is the first book in the series and the first book I read by the author.
Toni Aleo is an extremely skilled writer and writes books with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement. Was not one moment I didn’t want to read the last chapter of the book to see how the story ends. This is how exciting the author makes the book.

The book has divided the POV between Elli and Shea. This is done in an orderly manner and are not confusing even if it is not writhen witch person we are with.
It is also important in the story to know both their minds and what they are feeling.
And when you think there is a happy ending around the corner, you look at the pages and know it’s more.

In this book we meet Elli and Shea. Elli is a photographer and meet Shea when she takes pictures of Shea’s team. Shea is the captain for The Assassins. The book goes over several months and it’s jumping a bit. But the author does it in a way that we don’t become confused.

Elli has an extremely low self-esteem and is very insecure. She has many negative thoughts about herself. The reason for this is a previous relationship with a lot of pain. Also, she has a mother and a sister who treats her very badly and is mean to her.

Shea is a playboy and a badboy. But lately he has calmed down. Shea know quickly what he wants in the futures. And he knows what he wants when it comes to Elli and does everything to prove to her that he is whom she needs. I fell in love with Shea fast and could really have him in my own in bed.

The book has everything I need in a book, it has what it I need for it to be going to rank high on my list of the absolute best books. It has humor, yes I laugh so I cried in a couple of scenes where there is some fun dancing and where we have sibling love at its best. Read the book you will probably laugh, too.
The book has some drama, both with family and outside, there is always something going on. It has action on the ice that makes you feel that you want a hockey player by yourself, and a lot of action in the bed… There are a few teary scenes in the book and the tears rolled down my chin.

The title fits well with the story.

The cover is incredibly stylish.

The book gets 6 of 6 from me and I really want to read it one more time right away...
